Professional experience in Finland:

Played hundreds of concerts with different pop, rock, and commercial music bands all over Finland Since 1992-to present

Played lot of jazz concerts in different jazz groups in south Finland and have had opportunity to play with different well-known Finnish jazz players also for example Ilpo  Murtojärvi, Niklas Winter, Esa Pethman, Lasse Lindgren, Jan simmons, Ulf Krokfors,Toni Porthen, Ari Jokelainen, Jarmo Hynninen.

Teacher at Vakka-Suomi Music School and Arkipelag Music school in Parainen,  1994-2003 electric guitar and pop combos also participated in jury faculty for examinations in Turku Conservatory pop/jazz department

Professional international experience:

Participated august 2002 in Denmark NORDPULS organization summer camp for rhythmic training also had opportunity to perform concert in the Silkeborg, Denmark

2003-2004 Erasmus Exchange student in Belgium, Ghent conservatory jazz music department.

During the year performed in different jazz clubs in Belgium Netherlands and  France, with different Belgian jazz musicians, performed as band member in Trombone player Fredrik Heirman Quartet in Erasmusjazzprize 2004 competition in Rotterdam de Doelen Netherlands, resulting finals

Played in ghent conservatory bigband, and Gerardsbergen 86 Big Band. Both leaded by Marc Godfroid, one of leading European jazz trombonist and big bandleaders.

Participated Summer Jazz Workshop 2004 Amsterdam organized by Amsterdam Conservatory and Manhattan School of Music. During the Workshop performed concerts in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Studied also 2003-2004-2005 with Peter Hertmans and Philip Catherine

Remains active leader of his own band Kari Antila quartet and trio in Finland and Belgium

Co-leader with Andy Declerck in Andy Declerck & Kari Antila Group, orchestra that concentrates stylistically in post-bob jazz style.

Kari has composed considerable amount of the repertoire of the   orchestra. This orchestra has performed in Finland, Netherlands and Belgium in several occasions.

Orchestra performed in Belgium National Radio Channel Radio Klara in September 2006.

Group has also recorded an CD called “1000 miles Away”, which was released march 2007. Cd was chosen as cd of the week in wellknown Belgian jazzwebsite: www.jazzinbelgium.com in march 2007( band Webpage: www.adkagroup.com  or www.myspace.com/kariantila ). Andy Declerck & Kari Antila Group also did respected jazzlabseries tour in November 2007 in Belgium ( www.jazzlabseries.be).  Band

Performed also 3 weeks in Finland march 2008 giving workshops in most important

conservatoires in Finland and Performed as main act for example in Turku Jazz Festival. 2008

they also  participated in FNAC tournee in Belgium

Kari has also had opportunity to perform in Belgium with some wellknown jazz players. forexample Hans Van Oost, Bart Van Caenegem, Kris Duerinckx, Herman Pardon. Kari has also worked as a sideman for example with Marc Godfroid .

Kari has also worked a lot in commercial music scene in different countries in Europe with some top singers like for example with Lee Towers and Ben Cramer in Netherlands and Frank Michael                          

in Belgium, France and Switzerland. With Frank Michael Kari has performed also in some of the most famous concert halls in Europe, For example 5 concerts in Paris Olympia in march 2006.

Kari has performed as theatre musician also in Witte Paard summershow year 2006

Kari also appears permanently as a columnist in Finnish music magazine “Riffi”

Kari has hold the guitar teacher position in Academies Tielt and Geraardsbergen year 2007-2008
